City Closes Sport Courts Until Further Notice
Posted on 04/09/2020
The City of Charlottetown Parks and Recreation Department is advising the public that sport and multi-purpose courts and pads, including the skateboard park, tennis courts, basketball courts, and ball hockey rink are closed until further notice, effective today (April 9, 2020).

The municipality is working closely with the government of Prince Edward Island and following the guidance and recommendations from provincial and federal health officials on COVID-19. The closure of the sport and multi-purpose courts and pads supports physical distancing measures to protect the health and safety of the public and reduce the potential for COVID-19 spread.

While residents are encouraged to exercise regularly, public health authorities have advised that exercise should be done safely, close to home, maintaining two metres (six feet) of distance from other people.

City of Charlottetown sports fields remain closed due to the condition of the fields. A decision on whether the fields can be opened during this public health emergency will be made, at a later date, in consultation with the Chief Public Health Officer and her staff.

The City of Charlottetown requests that these measures be respected and thanks the public for their cooperation and understanding. Signage is being placed on each of the City’s sport and multi-purpose pads and courts today. To stay up-to-date on municipal information, visit the City's COVID-19 webpage or follow the City of Charlottetown on Facebook (@CityofCharlottetown) or Twitter (@ChtownPE).
