All Outdoor Rinks in Charlottetown Ready for Use
Posted on 01/29/2021
The City of Charlottetown is pleased to announce that all twelve outdoor rinks in the City are now open to the public.

“I am so pleased to hear that the City’s outdoor rinks are now open for all residents to enjoy,” said Councillor Terry Bernard, Chair of the Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Activities Committee. “Thanks to the hard work of Parks and Recreation Department staff, youth and families all across Charlottetown can continue to stay physically active while making the most of the outdoors.”

The public is encouraged to check on the status of the rinks by visiting the City’s website at www.charlottetown.ca and selecting the Skating and Skiing page in the Recreation & Leisure drop down menu. The outdoor rinks webpage is updated daily Monday through Friday. Each outdoor rink has a maximum limit which is based around physical distancing and the public gathering guidance limits. If you arrive at a rink that is at capacity, please come back later or visit a different facility. Rink capacities will be posted at each facility and can be found online with the rink conditions. The City would like to remind users that individual groups using these facilities must not exceed the restrictions on personal gatherings (i.e., household plus ten others).

The City of Charlottetown would like to remind the public to continue to follow the Chief Public Health Office’s recommendations. Up-to-date information on COVID-19, including current restrictions and public health guidelines, can be found at www.princeedwardisland.ca/covid19.

A CSA approved helmet is required while on the outdoor rinks.

The ideal temperature for construction and maintenance of the outdoor rinks is about -6 degrees Celsius, consistently. The outdoor rinks will be maintained as long as weather conditions continue to be suitable.
