Statement by Mayor Philip Brown on National Nursing Week
Posted on 05/12/2021
Philip Brown, Mayor of Charlottetown, issued the following statement in recognition of National Nursing Week and International Nurses Day (May 12):
“The Canadian Nurses Association’s National Nursing Week is an excellent opportunity to recognize the tireless efforts of nurses across the Island as they work to maintain the safety and health of everyone in our community.
This year’s theme is #WeAnswerTheCall, and there is no question that nurses and all essential workers have done just that.
COVID-19 has been a challenging time for all of us, but the sacrifices nurses have made on the frontlines in the battle against the pandemic in this past year are unparalleled.
This year, and every year, we owe our gratitude to our tremendous nurses working around the clock who answer the call when needed most. Last May, we were pleased to present Charlottetown’s highest honour, the Key to the City, to P.E.I.’s chief public health officer Dr. Heather Morrison, the province’s chief of nursing Marion Dowling, the CPHO team, and all health-care professionals across P.E.I.
Thank you once again to our nurses for their unyielding determination; you are an inspiration to us all as we navigate this public health emergency.”
