CHARLOTTETOWN, PE- The City of Charlottetown Seniors Engagement Committee is launching a series of workshops to obtain input and feedback from the senior and near senior population. The feedback collected will be used to assist in the development of an action plan for an age-friendly city for Charlottetown.
“This action plan will help develop a city that supports our senior population to feel safe and remain active and involved in the community,” said Carolyn Villard, Chair of the Seniors Engagement Committee. “While there are some improvements that will only impact senior citizens, most will make our city a better place to live for all.”
The Committee will be hosting three COVID-19-safe public consultations, two pop-up consultations and will receive feedback online and in writing through a survey.
The in-person engagement workshops are scheduled for:
Monday, November 1 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Malcolm J. Darrach Community Centre, 1 Avonlea Drive
Wednesday, November 3 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at West Royalty Community Centre, 1 Kirkdale Road
Thursday, November 4 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer’s Jack Blanchard Family Centre, 7 Pond Street
Pre-registration is required. To register, please call 902-368-1025 or email
[email protected] Participants of the in-person engagement workshops must be fully vaccinated and bring proof of vaccination and a government photo ID to the session.
The online survey is now launched and can be found on the City of Charlottetown webpage:

Print copies of the survey will be available for pick up on Friday, October 15, at the reception desk at City Hall (199 Queen Street).
“Due to COVID-19, this is a difficult time for us to gather, but these consultations are important, so we wanted to begin the discussions now to build the foundation for a better city for our population,” said Villard. “I look forward to hearing from all the seniors and near seniors and encourage those who live in and visit the city to participate.”
