Posted on 01/20/2022
An invitation to celebrate winter and join in the fun

As part of the city’s recently launched Winter Lights initiative, the City of Charlottetown is hosting a series of winter-themed virtual activities along with two activity-based contests. Residents are invited to participate in the Winter Lights Photo Challenge and Winter Wonderland Home Decorating Contest, in addition to virtual activities including art parties, family dance parties and fitness classes.

The winter-themed activities are being launched following the City’s recent transition from holiday lighting to winter lighting in an effort to encourage residents to explore and experience the city this winter season.

Winter Lights Photo Challenge
From Monday, January 24 to Sunday, March 6, residents are invited to help showcase the city’s magical décor with the Winter Lights Photo Challenge. To enter, capture and post a photo of Charlottetown’s winter lights and décor to Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag, #WinterLightsYYG. A weekly winner will be announced on Mondays via social media, and all weekly winners will be entered to win a grand prize full of local goodies.

Winter Wonderland Home Decorating Contest
Residents are invited to celebrate winter in their neighbourhood by decorating their home and front yard with creative elements such as lighting, snow construction, and other winter décor materials. To encourage broader participation, a new community organization category was created for locations such as businesses, seniors’ homes and places of worship.

Registration is open until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, February 7. Winners will be announced during the week of February 14.

Mood Booster Virtual Fitness Classes

The daily videos will be posted online at
