Tree lighting to feature live performances, refreshments and a pyrotechnic display
After a two-year hiatus, the City of Charlottetown is pleased to announce the return of the Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, November 25, 2022. The luminous tradition will feature a candlelight promenade, live performances, refreshments and a dazzling pyrotechnic display that is sure to delight and inspire festive cheer.
The event begins with a candlelight promenade, departing from Founders’ Food Hall & Market at 6:15 p.m. Members of the public who wish to participate in the promenade are asked to meet outside Founders’ Food Hall & Market between 6:00 and 6:15 p.m. to pick up a candle. The walk will be led by the Confederation Centre of the Arts Youth Chorus, who will sing Christmas carols as they lead participants up Great George Street, Victoria Row, Queen Street through the Victorian Christmas Market, finishing at Grafton Street in front of the Christmas tree.
The official Tree Lighting ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. on the Confederation Centre of the Arts Lou MacEachern Upper Plaza (Grafton Street). Participants will be treated to live performances by Island artists Tara MacLean, KINLEY and Brandon Howard Roy, as well as a special appearance by Father Christmas, refreshments and a stunning pyrotechnic finale.
