The Victoria Row and Victoria Park Active Transportation Route open May 1, heralding a change in the seasons.

Victoria Row, between Queen Street and Great George Street, will open to pedestrians beginning Monday, May 1, at 4 p.m. This section of street will remain closed to vehicular traffic until October 31 to accommodate pedestrian traffic during the summer months.

The Victoria Park Active Transportation Pathway inside lane will be open for the season beginning at 12 p.m., Monday, May 1. The permitted uses will include any form of self-propelled (non-motorized) transportation that relies on the use of human energy such as walking, jogging, cycling, inline skating as well as mobility-challenged users use of non-emissive devices such as scooters and wheelchairs. Anyone using this pathway is asked to be conscious of others and reduce speed if cycling. A Charlottetown Cycling Handbook is available on the City website under the Environment and Sustainability section for those wishing to learn more about safe cycling.

Vehicular traffic will be permitted to travel one way through the Park via the driving lane closest to the water. The inside lane will be for active transportation users only. The pathway will remain open until October 31.
