The 2022 City of Charlottetown Environment and Sustainability Annual Report is now available online detailing the progress made towards the goals and actions of the Integrated Community Sustainability Plan (ICSP) and Community Energy Plan (CEP).
The report highlights many successes accomplished in 2022 including:
• The provision of nearly $3,500,000 in 0 per cent interest financing to homeowners looking to complete home energy upgrades;
• A record year for transit ridership, with over 850,000 rides throughout the year;
• The rapid implementation of a residential property clean-up program in response to the impacts of post-tropical storm Fiona;
• The release of a new Strategic Plan;
• The creation of a new Community Garden Framework;
• The launch of the PEI Food Recovery Network, which prevented nearly 150,000 meals from going to waste;
• The endorsement, in principle, of a new Public Art Plan; and
• The installation of three new water bottle refill stations around Charlottetown.
The objectives of these two plans will be incorporated and expanded upon within the City’s new Climate Action Plan, currently in development.
