City Statement on Post-Tropical Storm Lee
Posted on 09/16/2023
The City of Charlottetown Emergency Measures Organization (EMO) met this morning to carry out a risk assessment regarding approaching Post-Tropical Storm Lee.

The City is prepared to open reception centres on Sunday, Sept. 17 in the event of extended power outages. The City currently has four community centers, Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with five city schools, and the Eastlink Center for use as primary reception centers that can open as required through the EMO process. Several other key locations in Charlottetown have also established MOUs with the city and can be opened as secondary reception centres, if necessary. The locations of the opened centres will be determined as the storm progresses.

Additional fire, police and public works crews will be brought in overnight as a precaution to ensure immediate concerns are addressed in a timely manner.

Residents are advised to consult local media and the City’s Facebook and X (formerly known as Twitter) sites for updated information.
