Waste Reduction Week

Waste Reduction Week

Waste Reduction Week in Canada took place from October 19 to 25, 2020 with numerous municipalities across Canada participating. Each day was designated a theme which focused on tools and resources relating to a specific aspect of waste reduction. The themes were: circular economy, textile waste, e-waste, plastic waste, food waste, sharing economy, and swap and repair.

The Sustainability Department partnered with several local organizations to highlight the businesses and waste reduction services available in Charlottetown. Partnerships included: Island Waste Management Corporation (IWMC); Department of Environment, Water, and Climate Change; Charlottetown Tool Library; Happy Ocean; and local second-hand stores. The week included the release of educational resources, challenges, incentives, and prizes.
