Description

Walk and Roll Week, formerly known as Bike Week, will take place from Monday, June 12 to Sunday, June 18! Walk & Roll Week is a celebration of all things active transportation such as biking, walking, rollerblading, and more in the City of Charlottetown! There will be fun free Walk & Roll events throughout the week such as a Guided Nature Walk, Group Mountain Bike Ride, Free E-Bike Test Rides, and the Mayor’s Bike Ride with Mayor Brown! Come out to an event or learn more below.

Event Schedule

Walk & Roll Art
Date: Monday, June 12 to Sunday, June 18
Location: Downtown Charlottetown and Victoria Park
Details: Take a walk through the City’s downtown core and Victoria Park to explore chalk art created by local artists Ashley Anne Clark, Jeff Kelly, and Charlotte Palmer thanking the community for using active transportation!

Walk & Roll Exhibit
Date: Monday, June 12 to Sunday, June 18
Location: Victoria Park Active Transportation Lane
Details: Check out the Walk & Roll in Charlottetown Heritage Exhibit display along the multi-use pathway in Victoria Park and learn about the history and popularity of active transportation in the City of Charlottetown. Created in partnership with the City’s Planning & Heritage Department.


Guided Nature Walk
Date: Monday, June 12 from 12:15 pm to 1:00 pm
Location: Victoria Park Ball Clubhouse
Details: Unplug, recharge, and improve how you feel! Celebrate Walk & Roll Week by joining City staff at Victoria Park for a Guided Nature Walk on Monday, June 12, 2023 from 12:15 – 1:00 pm! Come explore Victoria Park to get active and enjoy nature at lunchtime, and learn about the diversity of plants and trees plants representing Prince Edward Island’s native flora. Meet at the Victoria Park Ball Clubhouse right off the Forbes Kennedy Way parking lot (between the two ball fields at Victoria Park).

“Thank You For Biking” Campaign
Date: Tuesday, June 13
Location: Charlottetown
Details: Ride your bike in Charlottetown during Walk & Roll Week and you may receive a “Thank You For Biking” bike tag surprise. City Staff will be on the lookout for local cyclists in Charlottetown.

Thirsty Thursday Group Mountain Bike Ride
Date: Thursday, June 15 at 6:30 pm
Location: Acadian Forest Trails, East Royalty. Meet at Parkman Soccer Complex parking lot, Robertson Rd, Charlottetown (at the trailhead)
Details: Join a group mountain bike ride (all levels welcome) with PEI Bike Guy, followed by a casual gathering at Red Island Cider. You must bring your own equipment (helmet and bicycle).

Bike to School / Work Day
Date: Friday, June 16
Details: Get active and help reduce emissions! Join your peers and colleagues and ride your bike to work or school. Post a picture of yourself and tag the City of Charlottetown, PE social media account on Facebook or Twitter for your chance to win a prize!

E-Bike Test Rides
Date: Saturday, June 17 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Location: Rising Tide Electric Bicycles (125 Queen St, Charlottetown)
Details: Explore the city in a fun unique way! Take a free e-bike test ride at Rising Tide Electric Bicycles in downtown Charlottetown! First come first serve basis. Free test rides will take place Saturday, June 17 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
*A valid photo ID and credit card are required to take an e-bike test ride.

Mayor’s Bike Ride
Date: Saturday, June 17 at 2:00 pm
Location: Victoria Park at the Kiwanis Dairy Bar (50 Victoria Park Roadway, Charlottetown)
Details: Join Mayor Brown on a bike ride around Victoria Park on Saturday at 2:00 pm and enjoy a free ice cream come at the Kiwanis Dairy Bar after the ride to celebrate! Mayor Brown will also be giving away free prizes after the ride! Biking, rollerblading, scootering! All forms of active transportation are welcome to join the ride!

A friendly reminder that helmets are required by law and must be worn by all cyclists within the City of Charlottetown.

In addition, the City has a few cycling initiatives available to businesses throughout the year including:


Bike Rack Cost Sharing Initiative for Businesses
– The City of Charlottetown has a 50 per cent cost sharing initiative for businesses for the cost of a 4-bike bike rack.

Bike Friendly Businesses 
– Register your business as part of Charlottetown’s bike-friendly network. Your business will receive a window decal for your storefront and be featured on the City’s website.
