Urban Tree Inventories

The City of Charlottetown maintains an up-to-date tree inventory of City-owned trees, jointly owned trees (partly on private property and public property) and elm trees (public and private). With ongoing tree maintenance needs, tree pests and new plantings annually, it is important that tree related data is collected for the tree inventory. This data provides valuable information to help manage, protect and grow a healthy urban forest in Charlottetown.

Over the past seven years (2012-2019), 26,819 trees and shrubs have been planted within the City limits.  Trees are planted on public property with the exception of Confederation Forest project at Upton Farmlands, a project being carried out with Macphail Woods Ecological Forestry Project.   The majority of plantings are native trees and shrubs (aside from a number of large caliper street trees which are non-native).
