Each year, to celebrate Earth Day (April 22), communities around the world come together to protect the environment and create a healthy, more sustainable future for the planet. This year’s global theme Invest in Our Planet is focused on preserving and protecting our health, families and livelihoods. It also recognizes that as individuals, we have the simple yet effective power to make our voices heard through our choices, civic actions, and personal interactions.

Charlottetown has a number of local resources, programs and initiatives for residents, including:

Sustainable Living Guide

Local food recovery network

  • A program that diverts surplus food from producers, wholesalers, and retailers to local organizations, such as food banks and soup kitchens. To learn more, visit secondharvest.ca/pei.

 

Urban agriculture
