2021 Sustainability Micro-Grant Recipients

2021 Community Sustainability Micro-Grant Recipients Announced
Posted on 05/11/2021
Eight new projects relating to community sustainability will receive funding from the City of Charlottetown’s Community Sustainability Micro-Grant Program.

The community-led projects further the goals and actions of the City’s Integrated Community Sustainability Plan (ICSP) and engage the community in sustainability. The micro-grant awards range between $900 and $2,500.

Each of the 2021 micro-grant projects relates to one or more of the four pillars of sustainability: environmental, economic, cultural, and social. The committee selected a wide range of projects, including a recycling initiative for plastic coffee pods that will also provide coffee grounds to community gardens; a showcase of experimental short films; and a new garden sharing initiative that will pair gardeners with no space to garden with homeowners who have a garden but lack the time or physical ability to care for it.

The 2021 micro-grant recipients are:
• Big Brothers Big Sisters PEI – Big Brothers Big Sisters Big Start
• Desbrisay Community Garden – Composting Demonstration at Desbrisay Community Garden
• FilmPEI – Experimental Shorts Showcase
• Stars for Life Foundation for Autism - Making Connections with Our Community, Our Environment & Our Food Sources
• PEI Food Exchange – Edible Gardening Workshop Series
• Kirstie McCallum – PEIANC Mural Project
• The Charlottetown Garden Sharing Initiative
• Every Pod Counts – Coffee Pod Collective
