Beach Grove Road Culvert Project Status Update

The City of Charlottetown would like to advise residents and motorists on the status of the culvert project on Beach Grove Road. A significant amount of the project is now complete, and the roadway is expected to reopen the week of December 19.
Remaining work (weather permitting) includes:
• installation of the new culvert, end of this week (week of December 5);
• the removal of the old box culvert, finishing work on the new sanitary line, and the installation of shoreline protection and roadway reconstruction, week of December 12; and,
• roadway paving (asphalt supply has been confirmed), week of December 19.
Finished work includes the removal of the previous sidewalk, curbing, guardrail and fencing. Installation of sheet piling necessary to install the box culvert is complete. The new water line is in place and testing is complete.
Background:
Work on the Beach Grove Road Culvert Project began on schedule on September 8, 2022. The full project plan included the replacement of the box culvert, sidewalk installation, shoreline protection, as well as the construction of new guardrail and fencing. To help minimize further disruption in the area, necessary water and sewer work was included in the scope of the project.
