Free, family-friendly activities taking place December 30 and 31

The City of Charlottetown is hosting a series of COVID-19-friendly Capital New Year celebrations, featuring free, family-friendly events and activities.

Residents are invited to join in the following celebrations:

Family Mini Putt
Date: Thursday, December 30 and Friday, December 31
Time: December 30 – 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. / December 31 – 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Location: All About Golf Indoor Putting & Chipping Facility (Confederation Court Mall, lower level)
Details: Free, family-friendly mini putt
Registration: Tee times can be booked through Eventbrite beginning Monday, December 13 at 12:00 p.m. To register, visit charlottetown.ca/NYE.

Family Art Classes
Date: Thursday, December 30 and Friday, December 31
Time: 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. / 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (both days)
Location: Confederation Centre for the Arts
Details: Work together to help create one large 2D fireworks display, or work independently to create your own NYE party hat.
Registration: Online registration opens Monday, December 13 at 12:00 p.m. Visit confederationcentre.com to register. 50 participants per session.

Virtual East Coast Art Party
Date: Friday, December 31
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Location: Online
Details: Free, family-friendly virtual art party. Pre-recorded class will be available throughout the day on East Coast Art Party’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
Registration: 100 art kits will be available for pickup at City Hall beginning Monday, December 20 at 8:00 a.m. Maximum of four (4) kits per household.

Family Swims
Date: Friday, December 31
Time: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. / 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Location: Bell Aliant Centre
Details: Free, family-friendly swims
Registration: Tickets will be available for pick up at the Bell Aliant Centre beginning Monday, December 13 at 12:00 p.m. Maximum four (4) tickets per person.

Family Dance Classes
Date: Friday, December 31
Time: 10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (ages 2 to 6) – creative movement
12:15 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. (ages 2 to 6) – creative movement
1:45 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. (ages 2 to 6) – creative movement
3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (ages 7 to 12) – festive jazz
Location: Confederation Centre of the Arts
Details: Free, winter-themed family dance classes (parents are encouraged to participate). Hot chocolate and cookies will be served after each event.
Registration: Online registration opens Monday, December 13 at 12:00 p.m. Visit confederationcentre.com to register. 16 participants per session.

Folk for Little Folk with Gordie “Crazy Legs” MacKeeman
Date: Friday, December 31
Time: 11:30 a.m.
Location: Trailside Music Hall
Details: Free, all-ages show featuring Charlottetown fiddler Gordie "Crazy Legs" MacKeeman and some of his folk musician pals, who will be performing songs from his debut children’s album, Folk for Little Folk Volume 1.
Registration: Free tickets will be available on the Trailside Music Hall website at trailside.ca beginning Monday, December 13 at 12:00 p.m.

Glow-in-the-Dark Bowling
Date: Friday, December 31
Time: 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. / 1:45 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Location: The Alley
Details: Free, family-friendly bowling
Registration: Lanes can be booked by calling The Alley 902.892.7311 beginning Monday, December 13 at 12:00 p.m. Limit of one lane per group.

Family Skate Party
Date: Friday, December 31
Time: 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Location: Eastlink Centre Charlottetown
Details: Free, family-friendly skate along with music, disco lights, refreshments and mascot appearances.
Registration: Free tickets will be available through Eventbrite beginning Monday, December 13 at 12:00 p.m. To register, visit charlottetown.ca/NYE.

Haywire with JD Fortune Rocks New Year’s Eve
Date: Friday, December 31
Time: Doors open at 8:30 p.m.
Location: PEI Convention Centre
Details: Ring in the New Year with Haywire and former INXS front man JD Fortune
Tickets: Tickets can be purchased online at haywire.tidalevents.io
