Posted on 06/10/2019
During the monthly meeting of Council, Mayor Philip Brown presented twelve Charlottetown students with their artwork framed and the news it would be featured in a local calendar.

Last month, the City of Charlottetown partnered with the Town of Stratford to expand the popular Water School Program. The Town of Stratford has provided water conservation education to Grade 5 students in Stratford and the surrounding area since 2011. This year, the City of Charlottetown has joined forces to expand the program and extend to Grade 5 students in Charlottetown, Stratford, and surrounding areas.

The program was part of the school curriculum and took place over four days with four local elementary schools participating, for a total of 204 students. Part of the class involved an Art Contest where students were asked to create a drawing that represented something they learned from the program. From the entries, twelve winning pieces of art were selected. The twelve winning entries will be displayed in a school calendar with one for each month. There were also eight honourable mentions that will become a collage within the calendar.

Student’s whose artwork was selected for the calendar is as follows:
• Cameron Dickinson, West Royalty Elementary
• Angela Warwick, Parkdale Elementary
• Alyson Scott, West Royalty Elementary
• Ava Dow, West Kent Elementary
• Timea Acatincai, West Kent Elementary

• Sophia Erdogan, West Royalty Elementary
• Londyn Clarke, Parkdale Elementary
• Chloe Drake, Parkdale Elementary
• Brooklyn MacLeod, Parkdale Elementary
• Emmalea Walsh, West Royalty Elementary
