City Utility to Reinstate Late Fee Penalties

Charlottetown Utility to Reinstate Late Fee Penalties
Posted on 08/17/2020
The City of Charlottetown’s Water and Sewer Utility will reinstate interest charges on late payments beginning October 1, 2020.

The Utility implemented financial relief and flexibility measures for its customers in March, in recognition that many businesses and workplaces had shutdown due to COVID-19 and income supplementing programs hadn’t yet rolled out in full. The Utility waived interest charges on late payments and suspended all disconnections for non-payment for the months of March, April, May, June, July, August, and September.

While COVID-19 remains a concern, many workplaces have re-opened, employees have started to return to work, and Federal and Provincial relief programs are in place. To give Utility customer advanced notice, the public is being advised that the Water and Sewer Utility will not resume enforcing interest charges on late payments and disconnections for non-payment until October 1.

Any customers with questions about their water and sewer bills can contact the Water and Sewer Utility, Monday – Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 902-629-4005.

Bill payments can be completed online at: www.charlottetown.ca (Direct link: https://www.charlottetown.ca/resident_services/water_services/pay_my_utility_bill ).
