Culvert Replacement on Beach Grove Road to Begin September 8
Posted on 09/01/2022
A full road closure will be in place for the duration of the project
The City of Charlottetown is advising residents that construction on Beach Grove Road is scheduled to begin next week on Thursday, September 8. As one of the City’s major capital construction projects taking place this year, a full road closure, impacting both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, will be in place for the duration of the project.
When: Thursday, September 8, for approximately 12 weeks, weather permitting.
Where: Beach Grove Road, from North River Road to Beach Grove Road. Traffic will be detoured and directed to access the neighbourhood via Capital Drive.
Why: to replace an existing wooden culvert under the roadway that has reached the end of its lifecycle with a new twin concrete box culvert. Project work also includes a sidewalk, shoreline protection, guardrails and a new fence. To help minimize additional disruptions in the area, necessary water and sewer work has also been scheduled during this time.
The City recognizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Road and detour signage, is being installed in the area to help with traffic management. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
For questions or concerns, please contact the Public Works Department at 902-894-5208.
Additional Notes:
Throughout the duration of the project, access to area businesses will remain open.
T3 transit routes 2 and 3 will be impacted in the local area. Throughout the duration of the project, T3 will operate a shuttle bus service from 7am to 9am, 12pm to 1pm and 4pm to 5:30pm daily. The dedicated buses will shuttle passengers to and from the neighborhood to the West Royalty Industrial Park area to connect with the mainline buses for each route.
