Floating Dock to Be Installed at Victoria Park; Roadway Closed
Posted on 06/23/2020
The low profile modular composite floating dock system will be installed at Victoria Park on Wednesday, June 24. The Victoria Park Roadway will be closed to vehicular traffic from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. to allow for the installation. The active transportation pathway will remain open. A section of the boardwalk in front of the dock will be temporarily closed while the installation is completed.

It is expected that the dock system will be open to the public by the evening of June 24. Final touches to the dock system will be completed by the end of the day on June 25.

There have been some additions made to the floating dock to allow for physical distancing while people are accessing the dock. For public safety, a control access gate will be installed at the gangway entrance to the floating dock, and due to COVID-19 restrictions, the public is asked to avoid having members from different households passing each other on the gangway. An accessible parking space is located in front of the entrance of the floating dock to make the dock more accessible to the public.

The dock system will be open for public use from dawn to dusk, and it is expected to remain in place until October 15.

A list of rules and regulations are posted at the entrance to the floating dock and the public is reminded to abide by these rules in order to ensure public safety and enjoyment for everyone. The dock system will be regularly inspected and monitored by City staff, including Park Patrol, to help ensure public safety and compliance.

The public is reminded that the City has a Public Slip located at the Charlottetown Yacht Club, where small non-motorized watercraft, such as kayaks or paddle boards, can be launched.
