Free, family-friendly activities Monday, February 21
Residents are invited to get active and celebrate together safely on Islander Day. The City of Charlottetown will be hosting a variety of free, family-friendly activities including an online kids show, family swims and family skates.
Folk for Little Folk with Gordie “Crazy Legs” MacKeeman
- Date: Monday, February 21
- Time: 11:00 a.m.

- Details: All-ages show featuring Charlottetown fiddler Gordie "Crazy Legs" MacKeeman and some of his folk musician pals, who will be performing songs from his debut children’s album, Folk for Little Folk Volume 1.

Family Skate
- Date: Monday, February 21
- Time: 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.
- Location: Simmons Sports Centre, 170 North River Road
- Details: Family-friendly skate
- Registration: Pre-registration is required for both skaters and spectators. Free tickets will be available through Eventbrite beginning today, Tuesday, February 15 at 12:00 p.m. (noon). To register, visit charlottetown.ca/islanderday
Family Swims
- Date: Monday, February 21
- Time: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Location: Bell Aliant Centre, 560 University Avenue
- Details: Family-friendly swims
- Registration: Free tickets will be available for pick up at the Bell Aliant Centre beginning today, Tuesday, February 15 at 12:00 p.m. (noon). Maximum four (4) tickets per person
Horse and Wagon Rides
- Date: Monday, February 21
- Time: 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Location: Founders’ Food Hall & Market
- Details: Horse and wagon rides departing every 30-minutes from Founders’ Food Hall & Market.
- Registration: Pre-registration is required and will be available beginning Tuesday, February 15 at 12:00 p.m. Pre-register by calling 902.313.1000 or visiting Emerald Isle Carriage Tours on Facebook.

In addition to the above programming, an increased number of free take-home art kits will be available for pick-up at City Hall for the February 19 virtual East Coast Art Party scheduled as part of the City’s Winter Lights initiative.
Islander Day is a provincial holiday, that falls on the third Monday in February, and was first introduced in 2009. Each year, the City of Charlottetown hosts family-friendly events and activities to encourage residents to get active and celebrate together.
