Reception During Family Violence Prevention Week

City to Host Reception During Family Violence Prevention Week
Posted on 02/06/2020
The 11th annual Walk in Silence for Victims of Family Violence will take place in Charlottetown on Wednesday, February 12, from 12 p.m. (noon) until approximately 12:30 p.m., with a reception to follow at City Hall, 199 Queen Street.

The Walk in Silence for Victims of Family Violence is a symbolic gesture to give a voice to family violence victims who may remain silent out of fear or other reasons. The walk brings together Islanders and representatives from many interested groups and professions to show commitment and support for Island families by working to prevent family violence.
The walk will begin at the Coles Building at 175 Richmond Street at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12 and end with the reception at City Hall at approximately 12:30 p.m. The event is free and all are welcome to attend. February 12 also marks Wear Purple Day as part of Family Violence Prevention Week. Participants are encouraged to wear the colour purple as a sign of support.

The bell tower of City Hall will be lit purple for the week in honour of Family Violence Prevention Week, which takes place from February 9 – February 15. The theme for the 2020 campaign is Supporting Family Violence Survivors. To learn more about this year’s events, visit:
