Residents invited to participate in online survey
The development of Charlottetown’s new Strategic Plan is now underway. The new plan will help define how the City will embrace opportunities, confront challenges and leverage its assets in order to grow and flourish. The multi-year Strategic Plan will be the City’s highest-level plan and serve as a roadmap for prioritizing actions, policies, programs and partnerships.
The new plan will set the strategic direction for the corporation and define how the City can continue to grow in a dynamic and sustainable way. Specifically, the plan will establish a common vision and define the shared goals and priorities of the corporation and the community.
“The City’s new Strategic Plan will establish a clear corporate direction that will help us become a more modern and effective government that reflects the values of our community,” said Mayor Philip Brown. “The plan will reflect the feedback and insight received from residents, businesses, staff and Council and define our commitment to shared priorities for Charlottetown.”
In May, the City initiated work on the new plan with the successful proponent, Group ATN (GATN). While the new plan will leverage existing and recently completed plans and strategies, it will also be informed by several engagement activities that will help bring forward the City’s priorities into a roadmap for the future.
“The development of the new Strategic Plan comes at a crucial time. It not only brings everyone together for important conversations, but it will help define our collective priorities,” said Interim CAO Donna Waddell. “Charlottetown has much to be proud of and the new plan will provide us with clear direction on Charlottetown’s future.”
Community engagement is at the core of this work and will include an online survey, staff and stakeholder workshops, a community open house and more. The feedback and insights gathered through the engagement activities will be used to inform the new plan.
The online survey is now live, and residents are invited to have their say. The survey can be completed
here and will be open until Friday, June 24 at 4:00 p.m. (AT). Residents are also invited to participate in the community open house on Wednesday, June 22, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Rodd Charlottetown.
A key component of the City’s engagement will be the launch of a new digital engagement platform hosted by Bang the Table. The new digital engagement platform will make it easier for residents, business owners and stakeholders to connect with the City and share feedback on major plans, projects and initiatives that matter to them most.
With the development of the new Strategic Plan now underway, City staff will be bringing forward the new plan to Council this summer.
