Posted on 05/28/2021
Philip Brown, Mayor of Charlottetown and Councillor Julie McCabe, chair of the Economic Development, Tourism and Events Management Committee, issued the following joint statement in recognition of Tourism Week:

“In Charlottetown, we rely on world-class tourism businesses and operators to make our city the first-rate destination that we know it to be. It is because of the hundreds of small businesses and tourism organizations who work every year to deliver top rate hospitality and attractions that this city has become an internationally recognized tourism hot spot.

“On behalf of the City of Charlottetown, we would also like to thank groups such as T.I.A.P.E.I. and Discover Charlottetown. They do an incredible job promoting our city and supporting local businesses and have been critical supporters of the tourism industry throughout the COVID 19 pandemic.

“COVID 19 has hit our tourism industry hard, and many operators were forced to overcome many challenges. But here at the City of Charlottetown, we are optimistic in the days and months to come, and we are sure that our tourism industry will be at the forefront of our COVID recovery.

“ As Tourism Week draws to a close on Sunday, May 30, we encourage all residents to show their support to one of the most important industries.”
