Nothing signals the arrival of the Holiday Season in Charlottetown like the popular Wintertide Holiday Festival, an impressive collection of seasonal events and celebrations offered by the City of Charlottetown, its partners, and community organizations from November 22 – January 9.

“The Wintertide Holiday Festival comes together annually through the spirit of collaboration to ensure we all feel the Magic of the Season,” said Mayor Philip Brown. “In addition to the broad range of activities on offer, our crews are also busy once again transforming the city with thousands of Christmas lights and displays that will add spirit and sparkle to Charlottetown’s nighttime sky this Holiday Season.”

New this year is Holiday Projection on the Plaza presented by Confederation Court Mall, an animated holiday-themed projection and music show that will bring the Grafton Street façade of the Confederation Centre of the Arts mainstage to life beginning November 26.

Created by Wasko AV, a multimedia and creative technology studio specializing in projection, production, and motion graphics design, in partnership with the City of Charlottetown and Confederation Centre of the Arts, Holiday Projection on the Plaza will run every 5 minutes from 5PM – 10PM nightly through January 9.

Special thanks are extended to the Province of PEI, PEI Events Innovation Fund, Discover Charlottetown, Charlottetown Special Events Reserve Fund, and Confederation Centre of the Arts for making this magical production possible.

The Wintertide Holiday Festival will once again feature classic signature events including The Charlottetown Christmas Parade Presents: Santa Claus Comes to Town; John Gracie’s Once Upon A Christmas Tour, A Christmas To Remember, and Ava & Lily’s An Island Christmas concerts; Mayor & Council Christmas Tea and Social and Family Skates; a Holiday home decorating contest; and Capital New Year celebrations. A Calendar of Events will be available for download on November 22 at charlottetown.ca/wintertide. More specific details on signature events will be released in the near future.

Signature partner events include Discover Charlottetown’s expanded Charlottetown Christmas Festival (November 12-December 19), the all-new Peake’s Wharf Christmas Village (November 12 – December 19), Deck the Halls at Founders’ Food Hall & Market (November 26 – December 20), and Confederation Centre of the Arts’ Live @ the Centre mainstage Christmas programming (December 4-21).

Due to ongoing public health restrictions on unstructured events, the Official Wintertide Holiday FestivalTree Lighting, Fireworks, and Candlelight Walk are unable to proceed this year.
