The Monarchs lifecycle is pretty cool. The larva or caterpillar attaches itself to a twig or leafand hangs upside in the "J" formation. Its outer layer is shed and the transformation into a pupa or chrysalis begins. The chrysalis is waxy and green in appearance, becoming more and more transparent. After two weeks a butterfly emerges from the chrysalis. See below for more pictures of the Monarch life cycle.
