Signage Regulations

Planning and Heritage Department SignSigns are an important element of the City of Charlottetown's landscape. They help to convey messages and assist the public in finding goods and services.

There are various types of signs permitted within the City including banners, point of sale, fascia, sandwich, marquee, ground, projecting and canopy signs. In order to avoid clutter and confusion, regulations have been developed to guide citizens in in their choice of size, placement and number of signs, and a sign permit is required for the installation of a sign. When applying for a sign permit, please provide a detailed sketch of the sign and location on the lot or building. Please find signage regulations under Section 47 of the Zoning and Development Bylaw.

If you require assistance, please contact the Planning and Heritage Department.
