A Stunning and Strategic Location

Located within the Maritime provinces on the eastern coast of Canada, Charlottetown is a historic waterfront city home to 40,000 people. It is the largest city and provincial Capital of Prince Edward Island. The Greater Capital Area has a population of approximately 80,000 and makes up over half of the Island’s total population.

Charlottetown's location in the Northumberland Strait lets you stay ahead of the curve. This strategic location provides easy access for shipping by land, air, and sea to North American and European markets. Situated four time zones from London, England and four from the west coast of North America, Charlottetown sits in a favourable area for after-hours servicing.

  • Air: Charlottetown is home to PEI's only commercial airport and holds the only customs facility in the Province. Passenger numbers reached 105% of 2019 levels in 2023, leading Atlantic Canada in air travel recovery.
  • Sea: Port Charlottetown, the Marine Gateway to Prince Edward Island, is the busiest common-user marine terminal facility in PEI. In addition to 91 cruise ship calls in 2023, sand, gravel, petroleum products and agricultural fertilizer are major commodities shipped into the port.
  • Land: Charlottetown is located within a 60-minute drive of all major access points to and from the Island.
