This is one of the most invasive plants in the world. It was introduced to PEI as an ornamental plant. People wanted to decorate their yards with it....little did they know it would take over like it has.
This herbaceous plant grows in dense bamboo-like clusters. It grows in such great masses that it shades out the native plants around it.
