City Invites Feedback Ahead of 2026-2027 Budget

City Invites Public Feedback Ahead of 2026-2027 Budget
Posted on 10/07/2025

Residents, stakeholders and local businesses are invited to provide input as the City begins preparations for the 2026-2027 budget.

“Public engagement helps strengthen our decision-making by ensuring funding priorities are informed by the diverse perspectives and experiences of people who live here,” said Councillor John McAleer, Chair of the City’s Finance Committee. “By participating in the budget process, residents can play an important role in helping Council plan for the immediate and long-term needs of our growing community. I encourage everyone to come out and have your voice heard.”

Residents are encouraged to share input on both the operational and capital budgets. An online survey is now available and will remain open until Tuesday, Nov. 4 at midnight. Written feedback can also be submitted by email to [email protected] or dropped off at City Hall, 199 Queen St., addressed to the Manager of Finance.

The City will also host a series of in-person town hall engagements throughout October. These events are being held earlier in the budget process this year and will give attendees the opportunity to engage with staff and councillors, ask questions and share ideas before departmental budgets are presented to Council.

Town Hall Schedule:

Monday, Oct. 20
6 to 8 p.m.
Simmons Sports Centre (Community Room), 170 North River Rd.

Tuesday, Oct. 21

The City’s annual budget process outlines funding priorities for services and programs that residents and businesses rely on every day. Public input will help guide Council’s deliberations in early 2026, with the final budget approved in March.
