The City of Charlottetown is pleased to announce that Charlotte Nicholson, the City’s Event Management and Tourism Officer, has received the Sport Tourism Canada Rising Star of the Year Award at the 2026 PRESTIGE Awards. The ceremony was held on March 11 during the Sport Events Congress 2026 in Mississauga, Ontario.

The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate leadership and achievement in Canada’s sport tourism sector.

“This award is a significant achievement and speaks volumes about Charlotte’s dedication and the work she does behind the scenes to bring outstanding sport and tourism events to Charlottetown,” said Councillor Terry Bernard, Chair of the City’s Economic, Tourism, and Cultural Development Committee. “On behalf of City Council and staff, I extend sincere congratulations to Charlotte on this well-deserved recognition.”

The PRESTIGE Awards are a national program that recognizes exceptional sport tourism initiatives, events, organizations, and individuals from across the country. Now in their 18th year, the awards have highlighted excellence in the sport tourism industry since 2007. Ten recipients across ten award categories were selected at the 2026 ceremony.
