The City of Charlottetown, in partnership with the Charlottetown Food Council Advisory Board, is launching the first-ever Local Food Discovery Week, offering free local food programming for residents and visitors.
From Saturday, Aug. 29 to Sunday, Sept. 6, participants are invited to explore local food and resources through a passport-style program featuring events and activities throughout Charlottetown.
Local Food Discovery Passports can be picked up at participating locations or at City Hall. Participants can collect stamps by attending events, visiting participating locations, and completing activities throughout the week. Completed passports can be entered into ballot boxes at participating locations for a chance to win local food-inspired prizes.
Local Food Discover Week aims to raise awareness of locally available food and resources while encouraging participants to explore the social, economic, and environmental benefits of choosing local food. Through the program, participants learn how their food choices can support a more resilient and inclusive local food system. The initiative also supports the City’s Climate Action Plan, which identifies education and support for choosing low-carbon, locally produced foods as a key action.
