City Reminds Residents to Respect and Protect Victoria Park’s Natural Areas
Posted on 10/30/2026
The City of Charlottetown is reminding residents that the removal or destruction of trees, plants and other vegetation, as well as unauthorized activities that disturb natural areas, are strictly prohibited in Victoria Park.
The reminder follows recent damage to a forested area of the park near Deadman's Pond, where unauthorized biking trails and jumps were constructed, resulting in the destruction and removal of approximately 36 trees and plantings. The damage threatened some of the park’s rarest and most ecologically significant trees.
This area is an important part of the City's ongoing efforts to restore and protect Victoria Park's natural environment. Activities such as removing vegetation, clearing trails and altering the landscape can cause significant damage to sensitive ecosystems and undermine years of restoration work.
Residents are reminded to respect designated trails and recreational areas and to refrain from creating unauthorized trails, removing vegetation or otherwise disturbing natural areas of the park.
The City appreciates the public's cooperation in helping preserve and protect Victoria Park for the enjoyment of current and future generations.
