Celebrate Canada Day in the Capital City
Posted on 06/25/2025
The City of Charlottetown would like to remind the public about some of the exciting events planned for Capital City Canada Day 2025, taking place Tuesday, July 1 in Victoria Park.
JUNO Award-winner Joel Plaskett Emergency and local indie rock band Two Hours Traffic will headline the Coastal Vibes stage at this year’s Capital City Canada Day celebrations at Victoria Park.
This year’s festivities will feature a full day of free, family-friendly activities, live music by other favourite performers and a spectacular fireworks display at dusk.
Capital City Canada Day will also feature a Family Fun Zone from 12 to 7 p.m. Celebrate Canada with kid-friendly games, inflatables, community activations and festive giveaways throughout the day (while supplies last). Plus, Indigenous P.E.I. will return with an interactive pop-up featuring local Indigenous artisan vendors and cultural demonstrations. The Tastes of Canada (and Beyond) food vendor zone will also be serving up a variety of cuisines until 10 p.m.
For families wanting to begin the celebrations early, Triathlon PEI will be hosting a children’s triathlon at 8 a.m. in Victoria Park. Registration and a fee to participate in the triathlon is required. Visit www.tripei.ca for more information.
The celebrations will be capped off with the annual fireworks display launched from a barge in the Charlottetown Harbour at 10 p.m. In partnership with the Autism Society of P.E.I., a limited number of noise-cancelling headphones will be available at no cost to individuals with sensory sensitivities who want to enjoy the fireworks. Headphone distribution will begin at 9 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.
Attendees are encouraged to use active transportation or transit when travelling to/from the event. From 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., T3 Transit will operate two FREE Canada Day shuttle routes to and from Victoria Park, every 20 mins, with limited stops to help attendees reach the event and avoid parking congestion. Route 1 will also run until 11:30 p.m. If attendees choose to drive to the event, the City encourages carpooling and parking at the government parking lot on Terry Fox Drive. Bike Friendly Communities PEI will be on-site operating a free bike valet service and will accept any form of wheeled transportation including bikes, skateboards, strollers, scooters, etc.
This project has been made possible in part by the Government of Canada through the Department of Canadian Heritage’s Celebration and Commemoration Program, Celebrate Canada Component.
All Capital City Canada Day activities are weather permitting. Cancellations or weather-related announcements will be shared on the City's social media channels including Facebook @CityofCharlottetown and Instagram @city_of_charlottetown.
