Pownal Parkade Renovations to Begin Oct. 6
The City of Charlottetown is renovating the Pownal Parkade, with construction scheduled to begin on Monday, Oct. 6.
Originally constructed in 1988, the parkade requires repairs and upgrades to ensure it remains safe and operational. Construction will be completed in two phases:
• Phase 1 will begin Oct. 6 and is expected to continue until late November, or until construction is impacted by cold weather.
• Phase 2 will begin mid-April 2026, with project completion anticipated by mid-July 2026.
Throughout Phase 1, the parkade will remain open to monthly permit holders. Parking will be limited to the lower levels, and directional signage will be posted throughout the facility to guide drivers. The parkade will be closed to the general public during this time. On-street parking and additional parking at the Peakes Wharf lot near Confederation Landing will be available to accommodate non-permit holders.
The parkade will reopen temporarily to all users during the winter months, once Phase 1 is complete. During Phase 2, access will again be limited to monthly permit holders only.
For questions related to monthly permits or parking options during construction, please contact Charlottetown Area Development Corporation (CADC) at 902-892-5341 or

The City of Charlottetown appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as we complete these necessary upgrades.
