The City of Charlottetown, in partnership with the Civic Board for Persons with Disabilities and with support from the Parks and Recreation and Public Works departments, will host Charlottetown for All – Accessibility and Inclusion Expo on
Wednesday, Dec. 3, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Simmons Sports Centre.
Held on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, this free community event will highlight programs, services and supports available to persons with disabilities in the capital region. This marks Charlottetown’s first-ever Accessibility and Inclusion Expo, with more than 30 exhibitors registered.
The day will begin with a flag raising at City Hall (199 Queen St.) at
9 a.m. to recognize the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. All are welcome to attend.
Throughout the afternoon, the public can take part in a variety of demonstrations and activities.
Fitness and program demos are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Scheduled events include:
• 2 to 3:30 p.m. – T3 Transit Bus Demonstration: Explore accessibility features such as ramps, wheelchair seating, the kneeling function, and bike racks. A driver and City staff will be on site to answer questions and provide route and schedule information.
• 2:45 to 3:15 p.m. – Seated Yoga with Wendy Chappell
• 3:30 to 4 p.m. – Boccia Demonstration with and Craig MacDougall
• 4 to 5 p.m. – Skating, with adaptive equipment available, led by Rob Hogg
(CSA-approved helmets required)
• 4:15 to 4:45 p.m. – Seated Fitness with Emma Tran
• 5 to 5:30 p.m. – Groove Dance with Rhonda Gallant
