The City has rescheduled its Capital City Canada Day fireworks display for tonight, weather permitting, after they were cancelled last night due to unfavourable weather conditions.
The fireworks display was cancelled Wednesday evening as wind gusts posed a safety risk to the public, event staff and the fireworks crew. Public safety was the top priority in the decision.
The City has rescheduled the fireworks for this evening, beginning at 10 p.m.
The free Canada Day shuttle service will not operate tonight. Regular T3 Transit routes will continue as scheduled. Visit
T3 Transit’s website for the full schedules and route information.
In partnership with the Autism Society of PEI, a limited number of noise-cancelling headphones will be available free of charge to individuals with sensory sensitivities. Distribution will begin at 9 p.m. at the Victoria Park Cultural Pavilion on a first-come, first-served basis.
Victoria Park Roadway and Victoria Park Driveway (the road leading to the tennis courts) will be closed from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. this evening. Parking will not be permitted in these areas during that time.
Event organizers are monitoring weather conditions. Any weather-related changes will be shared on the City’s social media platforms: Facebook
