The annual Gold Cup Parade will take place in Charlottetown on Friday, Aug. 21, beginning at 10 a.m.
Parade Route
The parade will begin on North River Road near Queen Charlotte Intermediate School and proceed along Brighton Road, Euston Street, Great George Street, Grafton Street, and Pownal Street before ending on Fitzroy Street.
Road Closures
To accommodate parade staging, North River Road between Belvedere Avenue and McGill Avenue, and Kirkwood Drive between North River Road and Trafalgar Street will be closed to all traffic beginning at 6:00 a.m. Only registered parade entries will be permitted.
Road closures will be in place along the parade route and adjacent intersections beginning at 8 a.m. and will reopen following the parade:
• North River Road from McGill Avenue to Brighton Road
• Brighton Road/Euston Street from North River Road to Great George Street
• Great George Street from Euston Street to Grafton Street
• Grafton Street from Great George Street to Pownal Street
• Pownal Street from Grafton Street to Fitzroy Street
• Fitzroy Street from Pownal Street to Terry Fox Drive
• Terry Fox Drive from Brighton Road to Kent Street
As a result of these road closures, access to and from the area bordered by Euston Street, Great George Street, Grafton Street, and Rochford Street will also be restricted between 8 a.m. and approximately 12 p.m., including:
• Fitzroy and Kent Streets between Rochford and Prince Streets
• Pownal and Queen Streets between Euston and Richmond Streets
Transit Information
Temporary changes will be made to multiple T3 Transit routes on Friday, Aug. 21, between 6:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. to accommodate the parade-related road closures. For more information, please visit

Tips and Reminders
Motorists are asked to use extra caution and allow additional travel time when travelling in Charlottetown before, during and after the parade. Access to and from affected areas will be limited during the event. Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes. The parade is expected to conclude at approximately 12 p.m.
Parade attendees are encouraged to consider active transportation options, such as walking, biking and carpooling. Parking is prohibited along the entire parade route from 12 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 21 until the conclusion of the parade. Vehicles parked within no-parking zones will be towed without notice at the owner’s expense. The Fitzroy Street parkade will remain open; however, vehicles parked there will not be able to exit until the parade has concluded.
Charlottetown Police Services, City crews and volunteers will be stationed along the parade route. There will be zero tolerance for aggressive behaviour. Motorists who fail to obey road closure signage or traffic control measures may be ticketed.
To allow for the setup of the float dismantling area, the provincial government parking lot and Terry Fox Drive will be closed to the public from 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20 to 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21. Public parking is available at the Culinary Institute of Canada, Peake’s Wharf Parking lot and in designated street parking spaces outside of the parade route.
Pedestrians are reminded to stay off roadways while City crews reopen streets following the parade.
