Charlottetown Bike Week is back and will take place June 7 to 13! The City is partnering with local cycling organizations, businesses and neighbouring municipalities to offer a week-long series of fun and engaging events aimed at promoting cycling as a healthy, sustainable and accessible form of transportation.
Throughout the week, residents of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate in activities that celebrate the joy of biking and highlight the progress made in building more bike-friendly communities.
“Bike Week serves as an opportunity to showcase the collaborative efforts of the City and its partners to enhance active transportation infrastructure and support community well-being,” said Councillor Trevor MacKinnon, Chair of the Environment and Sustainability Committee. “We are proud of the work that has been accomplished so far and look forward to the upcoming Active Transportation Plan that will guide our work for the next 10 years.”
This year’s celebrations will feature a historical exhibit on active transportation at Victoria Park, a public art tour by bike and guided group rides throughout the city.
“Bike Week is the unofficial kick-off to summer in Charlottetown and this year we have an incredible line up of events for everyone to enjoy,” said Mayor Philip Brown. “It’s a time to get out, get active, have some fun and explore the many safe and sustainable ways there are to move around the city.”
