The City of Charlottetown has released the draft Zoning and Development Bylaw for public review and is seeking feedback from residents, developers and the business community. The bylaw serves as the City’s primary regulatory framework for land use, guiding what can be built, where, and under what conditions.

The proposed updates aim to create more housing options, reduce uncertainty and make development approvals more predictable and efficient. The City is launching another round of public engagement on the draft bylaw, including two public open houses where residents can learn more about the proposed changes, ask questions, and share their feedback.

Upcoming open house events:

Date: Wednesday, April 22
Time: 5:30 – 8 p.m.
Location: Confederation Centre of the Arts, 145 Richmond St.

Date: Thursday, April 23
Time: 6 – 8:30 p.m.
Location: West Royalty Community Centre, 1 Kirkdale Rd.

Residents may also submit feedback online or share their comments by emailing [email protected].
Public input is crucial to ensure the final bylaw reflects the needs and priorities of the community. Residents are encouraged to take part in in-person and online engagement opportunities before the final draft is presented to council for approval.
