Posted on 11/06/2023
The City of Charlottetown and the Province of P.E.I. are hosting a Public Information Session on the realignment of Water Street as part of the Eastern Gateway Waterfront Master Plan.

Date: Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023
Time: 6 to 8 p.m.
Location: Charlottetown Library Learning Centre – Rotary Room, 97 Queen St.

The session will provide participants with information on Phase 1 of the project which includes the redevelopment of Grafton Street from Cumberland Street towards the intersection of the Hillsborough Bridge. Phase 1 work will include upgrades to the water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure along Grafton Street, adding a Multi-Use Paved Pathway along the south side of the street, and installing a new signalized intersection that will connect to the new Water Street (Phase 2). This section of Grafton Street will then be reconstructed and repaved.

Work on Phase 1 is expected to begin the week of Nov. 6, 2023, and residents are asked to monitor the City of Charlottetown’s website and social media for updated traffic advisories.

The Water Street realignment is part of the larger Eastern Gateway Waterfront Master Plan that is intended to guide new opportunities for growth and development, recreational land, and events in and around the Hillsborough Bridge area. The Plan was originally passed in 2011, and can be viewed on the City’s website.
