Residents Invited to Forest Restoration Event

City Invites Residents to Forest Restoration Celebration at Victoria Park
Posted on 10/20/2023
The City of Charlottetown is continuing 150th anniversary celebrations at Victoria Park with a family-friendly event to educate the public on the park’s post-Fiona forest restoration project.

Date: Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023
Time: 1 to 4 p.m.
Location: Victoria Park Clubhouse, 23 Forbes Kennedy Way

The event will feature tree giveaways, nature booths, free treats, and tours of Victoria Park courtesy of MacPhail Woods.

Victoria Park has been a source of pride for residents since 1873 and provides Charlottetown with many benefits. As one of the largest blocks of urban forest in the city, the park adds significant beauty and recreational opportunities and provides natural habitat as a strand of Acadian forest. Post-tropical storm Fiona brought extensive damage to the park, with hundreds of trees uprooted and destroyed. In response, a massive forest restoration led by the City and carried out by MacPhail Woods began in October 2022.

Come out for an afternoon of fun and learning how we are restoring the historic beauty and forest ecology of Victoria Park. For more information, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 902-368-1025.
