City Reviewing Heritage Preservation Bylaw
Posted on 01/26/2026
The City of Charlottetown is completing a comprehensive review and update of the Heritage Preservation Bylaw and is seeking public input.

The current bylaw, which was last amended in 2019, guides the strategic management and decision-making process for the protection of heritage resources in the city. The update is focused on strengthening measures for the protection of heritage resources, offering greater clarity and guidance for residents and ensuring the practical conservation of historical assets.

Public engagement is a critical component of the bylaw review, and the City will host two Public Open House events in the coming weeks:

Date: Wednesday, Feb. 11
Time: 5 to 7:30 p.m.
Location: Confederation Centre of the Arts Concourse, 145 Richmond St., Charlottetown
Storm date: Feb. 18

Date: Thursday, Feb. 12
Time: 5 to 7:30 p.m.
Location: Hillsborough Park Community Centre, 199 Patterson Dr., Charlottetown
Storm date: Feb. 19

Participants will have an opportunity to review the current bylaw, ask questions of staff and consultants, and share their input.

Residents can also share their feedback by completing an online survey or by emailing [email protected]. The deadline for submitting feedback is Feb. 25.
