As part of his transition to the role of the City’s Chief Administrative Officer, Charlottetown Police Chief Brad MacConnell has appointed Deputy Chief Jennifer McCarron as interim Chief of Charlottetown Police Services, effective June 16, 2025.

McCarron has been with Charlottetown Police Services for over 30 years and has been Deputy Chief since April 2021. In her current role, McCarron supervises the major crime, street crime, bylaw, property and identification units. She is the first woman in the department’s history to hold both the Deputy Chief and Chief positions.

“I have every confidence in Deputy Chief McCarron’s ability to lead the department through this period of transition,” said MacConnell. “Her decades of experience and deep knowledge of the community, and the challenges and opportunities facing Charlottetown, make her ideally suited to this position.”

The competition for a permanent Police Chief will be launched in the coming weeks.

“It’s an honour to step into this role during this time of change,” said McCarron. “I’m committed to providing steady leadership, supporting our dedicated officers and staff, and continuing to serve the community.”
